If you notice a mistake in your JAMB profile or registration details, do not ignore it until admission screening. A mismatch in your name, date of birth, gender or state of origin can create problems when your records are checked. JAMB’s official support knowledge base explains that candidates should use the e-Facility correction process and complete the required verification steps.
Which JAMB details can candidates correct?
JAMB’s support guidance lists data items such as date of birth, name, gender and state or local government area. The available correction options and requirements may depend on the data field and the candidate’s record. Read the instructions shown in your own e-Facility account before making payment.
How to correct JAMB data
- Open the official JAMB e-Facility portal and sign in to the profile connected to your registration.
- Choose Application for Correction of Data from the available menu.
- Select the exact field that contains the error, such as name, date of birth, gender or state/LGA.
- Read the current instructions, fee and verification requirements displayed for that correction before proceeding.
- Complete any required biometric verification at an accredited JAMB CBT centre or JAMB State Office, as directed by the official process.
- After the correction is processed, sign in again and confirm that the updated details appear correctly. Keep the payment receipt and any confirmation slip.
JAMB’s current support FAQ lists a ₦2,500 payment for the data-modification process and says candidates may need to complete biometric verification at an accredited CBT centre or JAMB State Office. Because fees and procedures can change, confirm the amount and instructions on the official portal before paying.
Important note about date of birth and NIN
JAMB says date-of-birth corrections must synchronise with the verified National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) database. If the date of birth on your NIN record is wrong, resolve the NIMC record issue through the appropriate official channel before expecting JAMB records to match. Do not submit inconsistent details or use another person’s identity.
How long does a correction take?
Do not assume that a correction will reflect immediately. Processing time can depend on the correction type and verification. Check your e-Facility account and use the official JAMB support ticket system if the change does not appear after the stated processing period.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Paying an agent who promises a guaranteed or instant correction.
- Selecting the wrong correction category before payment.
- Using a different phone number or profile from the one linked to your registration.
- Failing to compare the corrected JAMB record with your NIN and O’Level documents.
- Waiting until a university’s screening deadline is close before fixing a known error.
What if the correction option is missing?
Do not pay an unofficial person to bypass the portal. Check JAMB’s official FAQ and submit a support ticket with a clear description of the problem. Include your registration details only through the official support channel, not in public social-media comments.
