Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) is a federal university in Delta State created to develop specialised manpower for the petroleum, energy and related sectors. It is known for science, engineering, computing, maritime and energy-focused programmes.
This FUPRE admission guide covers courses, UTME and O’level requirements, Post-UTME, Direct Entry, cut-off marks, fees and how to apply. The key point for the 2026/2027 session is that applicants should not treat older admission figures as current. FUPRE’s official portal is active, but the university’s current public information does not yet provide a confirmed 2026/2027 undergraduate Post-UTME deadline or screening fee. Check the current university notice before making any payment.
About FUPRE
Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun was established in March 2007 as a specialised federal university focused on producing high-level manpower for the oil and gas sector and related fields. It is located in Effurun, Delta State.
The university’s academic structure has traditionally centred on Science and Technology, while its more recent undergraduate offerings have expanded into computing, maritime studies and petroleum administration and management. Because programmes can be added or reorganised, applicants should check the current course list before making a JAMB choice.
FUPRE Courses and Programmes
Recent official FUPRE admission information lists undergraduate programmes across several areas, including:
- Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry
- Mathematics, Physics, Geology and Geophysics
- Environmental Management and Toxicology
- Science Laboratory Technology
- Biochemistry, Microbiology and Petroleum Chemistry
- Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Marine and Civil Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Natural Gas Engineering and Petrochemical Engineering
- Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology and Data Science
- Maritime Transport and Logistics
- Maritime Economics and Finance
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- Procurement Management
- Petroleum Information Management
- Entrepreneurship
The exact availability of a programme can depend on the admission exercise and university approvals. Students should use the current JAMB brochure and FUPRE’s current admission information when choosing a course.
FUPRE UTME Admission Requirements
FUPRE’s published undergraduate information requires candidates to satisfy both the general university requirements and the requirements for their chosen department. These include the relevant O’level subjects and the correct JAMB subject combination.
The university’s current public site states that candidates for undergraduate admission should have at least five relevant O’level credits and a minimum UTME score of 180, followed by the required Post-UTME assessment. However, another older FUPRE entry-requirement page still displays a 200-point threshold. Because these pages refer to different versions of the university’s admission information, applicants should use the threshold stated in the official notice for their admission year rather than assuming that an old figure is still applicable.
For science and engineering courses, the subject requirements are especially important. For example, FUPRE’s published departmental requirements commonly require English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for engineering and several science programmes, with a fifth relevant subject depending on the course.
FUPRE O’level Requirements
Applicants need the relevant O’level credits required by their programme. Older FUPRE undergraduate guidance has specified five relevant credits in one sitting for regular 100-level admission, while more recent programme notices have used different wording for particular admission exercises.
Do not assume that every FUPRE course has identical O’level requirements. Check the course-specific requirements in the current JAMB brochure and the university’s admission notice before submitting your application.
FUPRE Post-UTME
FUPRE uses a Post-UTME screening process for eligible undergraduate applicants. The university’s current central portal includes a Post-UTME screening section for candidates who chose FUPRE.
At the time of this guide’s publication, FUPRE has not published a confirmed 2026/2027 undergraduate Post-UTME closing date and screening fee in the current public notice information available on its main admission pages. The university has also published previous Post-UTME exercises with different eligibility thresholds, dates and fees. Those older figures should not be presented as the 2026/2027 requirement.
When the 2026/2027 notice is released, candidates should check the following before paying:
- the minimum UTME score for the current session
- whether FUPRE must be first choice or whether the university permits a change of institution
- the current screening fee
- the registration deadline
- the screening date and venue, if physical screening is required
- the documents and passport photograph specifications
- the exact official payment and application portal
Does FUPRE Accept Direct Entry?
FUPRE’s regular undergraduate information has historically stated that Direct Entry and transfer admission were not available through its normal undergraduate route. The university’s current central portal, however, labels its candidate area as “Post UTME/DE Candidate Login”, while its older admission pages still describe UTME as the regular entry route.
Because the public pages are not fully consistent, prospective Direct Entry applicants should not assume that FUPRE is accepting DE for the 2026/2027 regular admission exercise. Wait for a current FUPRE notice that explicitly confirms Direct Entry eligibility and the accepted qualifications.
FUPRE also runs a Foundation Programme that leads to a JUPEB qualification. A successful JUPEB candidate may use the qualification for Direct Entry admission where the relevant university and programme requirements are satisfied. That is different from assuming that the regular FUPRE undergraduate admission route accepts every Direct Entry qualification.
FUPRE Cut-Off Mark
There is no safe reason to quote one old FUPRE cut-off as a permanent requirement. FUPRE’s public undergraduate pages have used different minimum UTME figures at different times, including 180 and 200.
For 2026/2027, use the figure published in the official admission notice for the session. Even where a candidate meets the minimum screening threshold, that does not guarantee admission into a competitive programme.
FUPRE School Fees
FUPRE has published student charge schedules for earlier academic sessions, but these old schedules should not be presented as the confirmed 2026/2027 school fees.
For example, an older FUPRE student-charge notice listed numerous separate charges for new students. Those figures are historical and are not suitable as a current fee quotation. New students should wait for the applicable fee schedule and use the payment information generated through the official university system after admission and clearance.
Also keep the following costs separate: Post-UTME screening, acceptance, university registration and other approved student charges. They are different stages and may have different amounts.
How to Apply for FUPRE Admission
- Choose a FUPRE programme that matches your academic subjects and career plans.
- Check the JAMB subject combination and O’level requirements for that programme.
- Confirm the current FUPRE UTME eligibility requirement for the admission session.
- Use the official FUPRE website and central academic portal for the current application notice.
- Register for Post-UTME only when the current undergraduate screening exercise is officially opened.
- Enter your JAMB registration number and personal information carefully.
- Pay only the screening amount stated in the current official notice.
- Upload the required passport photograph and academic information in the format requested.
- Review your application before final submission.
- Print or save your confirmation page and payment evidence.
- Continue monitoring FUPRE and JAMB for screening results and admission updates.
What Happens After FUPRE Post-UTME?
Submitting the screening application does not mean that admission has been granted. Candidates must satisfy the university’s admission requirements and pass through the applicable JAMB admission process.
After the screening stage, keep checking the official university admission information and JAMB CAPS. If an admission offer is made through CAPS, follow the required acceptance procedure and then complete FUPRE’s clearance and registration steps.
FUPRE Foundation and Basic Studies Programmes
FUPRE separately operates Basic Studies and Foundation programmes. The university’s current programme portal states that the 2026/2027 application into these programmes is open.
The Foundation Programme leads to a JUPEB certificate, which can be used for Direct Entry applications to 200 level where the candidate also satisfies the destination institution’s requirements. FUPRE’s current information lists a ₦15,000 application fee for the Foundation Programme and ₦10,000 for the Basic Programme for Nigerian applicants.
These are separate from the regular undergraduate Post-UTME application. A student should not confuse the Foundation or Basic Studies application with the normal UTME admission exercise.
Common FUPRE Admission Mistakes
- Using an old 180 or 200 UTME threshold as if it were the confirmed requirement for every new session.
- Choosing an engineering or science course without checking the exact JAMB subject combination.
- Assuming every FUPRE programme has the same O’level requirements.
- Paying for a Post-UTME form before FUPRE officially announces that the form is on sale.
- Using an unofficial admission portal shared by an agent.
- Confusing the Foundation Programme with regular undergraduate admission.
- Assuming that a JUPEB qualification automatically guarantees admission.
- Giving JAMB or payment credentials to an agent who promises guaranteed admission.
FUPRE Admission FAQs
What is the FUPRE cut-off mark?
FUPRE’s public admission pages have used different minimum UTME figures over time. The current admission notice for the relevant session should be treated as the controlling figure. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission.
Does FUPRE accept Direct Entry?
Regular FUPRE undergraduate pages have historically stated that Direct Entry was not available, although the newer central portal includes a Post-UTME/DE candidate area. For 2026/2027, applicants should wait for an explicit university notice before assuming that regular DE admission is open.
How much is FUPRE school fees?
FUPRE’s current 2026/2027 undergraduate fee schedule should be used when issued. Older student-charge figures are not reliable as a current quotation, so this guide does not present them as 2026/2027 fees.
Is FUPRE Post-UTME form for 2026/2027 out?
The university’s current portal provides a Post-UTME section, but the public information checked for this guide does not yet provide a confirmed 2026/2027 undergraduate screening deadline and fee. Candidates should rely on the current FUPRE announcement before making payment.
What courses does FUPRE offer?
FUPRE offers programmes across science, engineering and technology, computing, maritime studies and petroleum administration and management. The exact programme list should be checked against the current JAMB brochure and university admission information.
